Premium 250w Hub Motor Kit, sleek!

A complete system with Cadence Pedelec, colour Display and optional Throttle, with the subtle and torquey matt-black mini-motor available in either a front or rear wheel replacement. Simple to use, low maintenance and discretely hidden, these hub motor systems are sure to impress.

The planetary geared motor is totally freewheeling, meaning there is no resistance to the normal rolling motion of the wheel.  The bike will retain all its gears, so you can ride it as normal on the flat, and turn on/up the pedal assistance for the hills.

Our wheels are built using durable double-wall rims and thicker 12G spokes, to withstand the extra weight and torque of the motor. The motor casing also includes holes to attach a disc brake rotor, if you bike has discs. All common wheel sizes are available to choose from.

This quality motorised wheel is matched with a compact 14amp controller, the brains of the system, positioned between the battery and the motor. All cables come to this hub, and are designed to be appropriate lengths for the average bike.  We supply a bag which can be mounted in various locations, usually in the top rear triangle of the bike frame, or under the seat.  Rack batteries include a handy cavity to mount the controller in, keeping things neater.

The Kit includes options for the type of Display, Pedelec sensor, Brake Cutout sensor, and optional Throttle (must be limited to 6km/h if you wish to remain road-legal. which can be done from the display).

We offer an Extended Warranty when we install the system, then giving 2 year warranty on products, and lifetime on the installation (providing we undertake the free annual safety checks).

We are so sure you won't be disappointed, we are happy to offer you a 7 day 100% Satisfaction Guarantee on this kit.. Love it, or you'll get your money back! Please note that the Satisfaction Guarantee on kits is limited, as this does not include labour. It rests with the Dealer who sold the bike / kit, and requires the bike / system is returned in ‘as-new condition’ with less than 50kms travelled since purchase, within the stated time frame.

We offer a wide range of options to make the kits ideal for as many types of bikes and riders as we can. Please check out our System Builder to ensure you get the right components for your complete e-bike conversion system.

No longer will you be limited to where you can ride. The hills will feel flat, and the world will open up for you when you upgrade your bike with a REV-Bikes electric assist system.

Our kits can electrify ANY bike, often giving a new life to your old trusty. But if you'd prefer a brand new and shiny bike, check out our recommended bikes for this kit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are 250W hub motors so common in Australia and what are their benefits?

The 250W hub motor is Australia's standard for road-legal e-bikes, which explains its popularity. This power rating balances providing helpful assistance and maintaining bicycle-like characteristics as required by law. A 250W hub motor offers several benefits for Aussie riders. It provides enough power to flatten hills and headwinds, making commutes easier without feeling overpowered. These motors are generally lightweight and compact, preserving your bike's handling and making it easier to transport or store. They're also energy-efficient, offering a range from a single battery charge.

How does the performance of a 250W hub motor kit compare to a regular bike?

A 250W hub motor kit transforms your cycling experience compared to a regular bike while still maintaining a familiar feel. When engaged, the motor provides a noticeable boost, making it easier to maintain higher speeds with less effort. You'll find hills become much more manageable - what was once a challenging climb might feel like a gentle incline. Headwinds can be a real hassle on a standard bike and become far less problematic. In stop-start traffic, common in Australian cities, the motor helps you accelerate quickly and maintain pace with urban traffic flow.

What should I look for when choosing a 250W hub motor kit for my bike?

First, decide between a front or rear hub motor - the rear is more common and often preferred for better weight distribution, but the front can be easier to install. Check the wheel size to ensure compatibility with your bike frame. Look at the battery capacity - a larger capacity means more range but adds weight. Consider the riding you'll do - if you face many hills, look for a motor with good torque ratings. The control system is essential, too - some kits offer pedal assist only, while others include a throttle option. Also, check for weatherproofing if you plan to ride in all conditions.

How difficult is it to maintain a bike with a 250W hub motor kit and what regular care does it need?

Maintaining a bike with a 250W hub motor kit is generally straightforward and often more accessible than caring for more complex mid-drive systems. The motor is sealed and requires little maintenance beyond keeping it clean and dry. Regular care involves checking the motor's mounting bolts to ensure they're tight, as vibration can loosen them over time. The electrical connections should be inspected periodically for any signs of wear or corrosion, especially if you ride in wet conditions. The battery needs proper care - store it in a cool, dry place and avoid letting it fully discharge. Tyre pressure becomes more critical with the added weight and power, so check it regularly.
