REV Bikes is not just a general bike shop with a small adaptive section. We have been custom building eBikes since 2009, and have built up a range of specialised solutions to suit those who need something more tailored, rather than off-the-shelf eBikes. Each product is chosen with Ability and Accessibility in mind, all are available for trials along the bike track from our Nunawading store, and many modifications are available to create the perfect fit.

Our Process
We keep things clear and straightforward, from the first conversation, through the test ride opportunity, to the fitting and handover day, and as quick as possible.

Consultation
We start by understanding you, not just your diagnosis. We sit down with the rider and their OT to talk through specific needs and goals. From there, we move to test rides across any suitable vehicles. The OTestablishesthe bestoptionfor the rider, and REV confirms any custom requirements needed.

System Design and Quotation
Once the right vehicle isidentified, REV puts together a detailed quote and sends it directly to the OT. The OT then completes the Assistive Technology Assessment, and the funding application issubmitted. Then it is simply a matter of waiting for approval.

Approval and Ordering
Once REV is informed of funding approval, we submit the invoice for payment. Parts are ordered and the vehicle is built right here at our Nunawading work shop. Payment is received by REV before the build is completed.

Handover
We contact the client to arrange pickup or delivery. Handover takes around 45 to 60 minutes with the REV team. We do a final fitment check and make sure theriderand everyone involved know every function of the vehicle before leaving.

Disability cycling uses specially designed adaptive bikes and trikes built for riders with physical, balance, or coordination challenges. It supports fitness, independence, and social connection for people of all ages and ability levels.
Adaptive Bikes and Trikes are generally classified as assistive technology under the NDIS, if they are adapted to meet your specific needs. Non-modified adaptive bikes such as e-Trikes are currently excluded from NDIS funding (2026). Self-managed and plan-managed participants may be eligible, following an Assistive Technology Assessment with your OT. REV Bikes works with you and your OT to prepare the right documentation and quote for your application.
No licence is required to ride an adaptive bike or trike in Australia. Most adaptive cycling products are used on shared paths and recreational spaces. Always check your local council guidelines for specific path rules in your area.
Yes, and we strongly encourage it. Our Nunawading workshop is set up specifically for test rides. We can also come to you if getting to us is a challenge.
Timelines vary depending on your plan type and the NDIA's assessment process. This can range from weeks if funding is already available within the plan to over 12 months for those seeking larger amounts. Having your OT involved early and your quote ready can help speed things up considerably. REV Bikes will support you through every step.
Absolutely. Many of our customers are seniors looking for a stable, low-impact way to stay active. Recumbent and upright trikes in particular offer excellent support for older riders managing balance or joint concerns.
