(Flat Handlebar, Skinnier Tyres)
These bikes are great for general riding, fairly lightweight, with an upright riding position. Great for getting from A to B on a regular basis. They are ideal for both comfort and visibility when riding in traffic. Commuter / Hybrid bikes can usually be easily adapted for extra carrying capacity by fitting racks and panniers if needed.
(Drop Handlebar, Skinnier Tyres)
Traditionally the bikes used by cycling enthusiasts and for racing, they are lightweight and are designed to cover distances at speed. Most road bikes feature drop handlebars to allow multiple hand positions while riding for long periods of time. There are also more specialist sub groups of road bikes, including triathlon bikes, endurance bikes and aero road bikes.
These bikes allow more options and flexibility to suit a wide range of people, making bike riding more inclusive. Trikes offer an ideal solution for those many riders with balance or mobility issues. Recumbents are perfect if you like to sit back whilst riding. Tandems are great for those who don’t like riding alone or for those with impaired vision.
(Drop or Flat Handlebar, Medium width Tyres)
Gravel bikes offer a mixture of great features which have made them popular for the last few years. They have borrowed elements from road bikes combined with more relaxed frame geometry for stable handling and wider tyres, more suited for rougher gravel trail riding. Gravel Bikes have spawned a new activity - Bikepacking. This involves overnight to multi-day rides, on and off-road, usually camping, ideally suited to those with a taste for adventure. Gravel bikes are also the ideal 'do-it-all' bike, so you could be commuting during the week and then off road trails on the weekend. Gravel bikes can do most things very well.
(2 or 3 Wheels with Big Capacity Front Storage)
The Cargo bike is the ‘Van’ of bikes, designed to haul stuff. Low gearing and a strong frame to handle the extra loads, Cargo bikes come in different styles and are designed specifically to carry a wide range of cargo, from shopping to pets and children. All that extra load makes them a prime candidate for extra assistance from an electric motor.
(Flat Handlebars, Fatter Tyres, Often with Either Front or Full Suspension)
Featuring fatter tyres and a frame designed for the rough and tough world of off-road riding, mountain bikes (MTB’s) often feature front suspension or full suspension. Within mountain bikes, there are specific types depending on the type of riding they are designed for. Cross country bikes are built for fast riding over less challenging terrain. Enduro / all-mountain bikes are ideal for big jumps and the terrain found in specific MTB parks & trail centres. Downhill bikes are built tough for going downhill fast. Fat Bikes feature wider wheels and tyres and offer a smooth ride.
Style
These are the types of bikes which offer the style of yesteryear. Ideal for general riding where style is important, the shops, the pub… Classic and Retro bikes can be more recent productions in the classic style or a genuinely older bike restored. Either look great! Fixie bikes can fit into this category too, often converted from multiple gears to a single-speed transmission, with a nod towards classic bikes of days gone by.
Here at Rev Bikes, we have converted literally all types of bikes to electric. Whatever type of bike riding you are into we can convert your existing bike into a high-quality custom e-bike which suits you.
